Privacy Policy

RefractoryAdditives.com collects personal data only when you send it through one of three forms, keeps it for 24 months and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. What happens to a message or a quote request after you press send?

RefractoryAdditives.com is an independent reference on refractory materials. This policy covers the reference on refractory materials and every form on it.

The sections below follow the path of your data: who is responsible, what each form stores, what is not collected, who receives a request, how long it is kept, where it is stored and how to ask for a copy, a correction or a deletion.

Every value names its standard and edition, the product data sheet or the dated source it comes from; see our methodology and fact-checking process.

Who Is Responsible for Personal Data on RefractoryAdditives.com?#

RefractoryAdditives.com, written and run by the RefractoryAdditives.com Editorial Team, is responsible for the personal data sent through its forms, and every privacy request goes to editorial@refractoryadditives.com. No person is named on the site, so the email address is the single channel for questions, corrections and privacy requests.

The site publishes no advertising and holds no reader accounts, so no profile of any reader exists beyond the details sent through a form. Messages to it are handled by the editorial team that writes the reference. Who writes the reference and how it is funded is set out in about RefractoryAdditives.com.

What Personal Data RefractoryAdditives.com Collects#

RefractoryAdditives.com collects the details you type into three forms (the contact form, the supplier quote request and the contractor match request) and nothing from visitors who only read. Table 1 lists the fields of each form and the field that is required. A field marked optional can stay empty without blocking the submission, and the forms ask for no more than the answer to your request needs.

Form Where it appears Required fields Optional fields Purpose
Contact form /contact/ email address; message (10 to 5,000 characters) name; topic; page concerned answer questions, corrections and tips
Supplier quote request /tools/rfq/ and request blocks on product pages email address; product or class quantity; specification; service temperature; delivery country; company pass the specification to independent suppliers
Contractor match request /tools/contractor-match/ and request blocks on practice and industry pages email address; lining type or class furnace zone; area or tonnage; tear-out; timing; country and postcode; photos pass the job to independent contractors
Email updates n/a at launch n/a n/a n/a until a sign-up exists

Table 1. Personal data by form. Every form also records the page it was sent from and the time of sending. A hidden field filters automated spam.

Contact Form Messages#

The contact form needs an email address and a message of at least 10 characters; name, topic and the page you write about are optional. The team reads these messages to answer questions, apply corrections and follow up news tips, and replies go to the address you give.

Spam filtering works through a hidden form field that people never see and that a person filling in the form leaves empty. No third-party challenge service loads on the page, so solving a puzzle or clicking a checkbox is never part of sending a message.

Supplier Quote Requests and Contractor Match Requests#

A supplier quote request stores what a quote needs: product or class, quantity, specification, service temperature, delivery country and your email address. The contractor match request stores lining type, furnace zone, area or tonnage, tear-out, timing, country and postcode, email and optional photos.

The forms ask for no company bank details, tax number or identity number. The supplier form lives on the page where you request refractory quotes.

Email Updates#

Once a sign-up exists, an address is kept until you unsubscribe, and the form shows the unsubscribe route before you submit, so leaving the list never requires a message to the team.

What the Site Does Not Collect: No Analytics, No Advertising Trackers#

RefractoryAdditives.com runs no analytics service and no advertising vendor, so reading a page sets no tracking or advertising cookie and builds no visitor profile. The site uses no ad networks and no retargeting, and it sells personal data to no one.

Pages reach your browser through the hosting provider described under storage below. No visitor statistics are bought, shared or compiled from your reading, and no third party receives a signal that you opened a page, a standards table or a safety page. The only personal data on the site is data you choose to type into a form.

How Requests Reach Independent Suppliers and Contractors#

A supplier quote request goes to independent suppliers and a contractor match request to independent contractors who install and repair refractory linings, so they can answer your request. The forms use the same wording as this policy: "Send one specification to independent suppliers." for the supplier request and "We pass your request to independent contractors who install and repair refractory linings." for the contractor request.

The forms carry the disclosure "Requests go to independent suppliers and contractors. No company pays for placement; see our editorial policy." No company is named on the forms, and the site receives no payment for passing a request on.

You can ask at any time that a stored request is not passed on or is deleted. Removing a request from the hand-over does not affect the editorial pages you read. The contractor form sits on the page for a free refractory contractor match.

How Long Personal Data Is Kept#

RefractoryAdditives.com keeps contact messages, supplier quote requests and contractor match requests for 24 months and deletes them after that period. Table 2 shows the retention period for each kind of data.

Data Kept for
Contact messages 24 months
Supplier quote requests 24 months
Contractor match requests 24 months
Email update addresses until you unsubscribe (no sign-up at launch)

Table 2. Retention by kind of data.

An earlier deletion is possible on request; the section on access, correction and deletion below describes how to ask.

Where Data Is Stored and Who Processes It#

Form submissions are stored in a database on the infrastructure of the site's hosting provider, which also delivers every page over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The hosting provider processes the technical data needed to deliver and protect the pages, such as the request that asks for a page and the response that returns it. The site names the provider category here because the choice of provider can change without a change in what the forms collect.

Email sent to editorial@refractoryadditives.com arrives through the hosting provider's email routing. Replies leave through a transactional email provider that signs outgoing mail with DKIM, SPF and DMARC.

Your Requests: Access, Correction and Deletion#

You can ask RefractoryAdditives.com for a copy of the personal data it holds about you, for a correction or for its deletion by writing to editorial@refractoryadditives.com. Four requests are handled by email, as listed below. Each one concerns only the personal data that the three forms collected, because the site holds no other personal data about readers.

  • A copy of the data held about you
  • Correction of a detail in a message or request
  • Deletion of a message or request
  • Stopping a stored request from being passed on

The editorial team checks that the request comes from the address that sent the data, so that nobody receives or deletes another person's submission. If the address differs from the one on the submission, the team asks for a message from the original address before it acts.

How to Contact Us About This Privacy Policy#

Questions about this privacy policy go to editorial@refractoryadditives.com, the same address that receives corrections and privacy requests.

The form on the page to contact the editorial team reaches the same inbox. The site has no login and no app, so no account data exists, and a question about this policy needs no account or form field beyond your email address.

RefractoryAdditives.com is written for industrial readers and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Outbound links go to standards bodies, regulators and publishers, and their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site. RefractoryAdditives.com does not control what those publishers collect, so read their notices before you send them data.

Changes to This Policy#

RefractoryAdditives.com updates this policy when a form, a retention period or a service provider changes, and the date at the top shows the latest version. Corrections and independence rules sit in the editorial policy.
